Deadline is reporting that Arrow’s Marc Guggenheim has been hired by Sony Pictures to pen their Marvel Comics film Jackpot, featuring the Spider-Man universe character.
Marc’s writing credits include the Green Lantern film, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and most recently the True Lies series for Disney+. He also has been mostly working on CW’s string of DC Comics shows such as Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash.
This is one of the many Marvel films that Sony Pictures has in development alongside stuff like Kraven The Hunter, Silk, Madame Web, Black Cat, and Silver Sable. Just yesterday it was reported by Variety that S.J. Clarkson was developing a female-led Marvel film for them, suggesting it could be Madame Web. Adding that actresses such as Charlize Theron and Amy Adams were on a studio wishlist.
A director or lead actor isn’t mentioned in the write-up but given that they recently hired Clarkson without a screenwriter/script that likely doesn’t mean they aren’t courting people for the job.
